At the end of September 2006, I remember going back to a spot around the corner of Chelsea and North Watkins streets. It looks like it was where old Memphis trolleys, you know those magical hot dog shaped vehicles that took people up and down Main street, went to die. (Let’s not talk about the Madison Avenue trolley line that makes people with shit tires slide like an ice road trucker on speed.) Hot dog description aside, these trolleys looked old, weathered, and burned up. What idiot would think this is photo worthy?
The last two pictures are from somewhere off of Florida and East Carolina streets, well before all the condos had a ton of unprotected sex and exploded all over that landscape. Sure Memphis looked like how I felt Old Detroit did in Robocop, but I was Officer Murphy and no one was taking shots at me, so fuck it. Memphis, where huge shards of glass were wired to telephone poles. I’d work for Dick Jones in a heartbeat…
