Nothing says getting the snakes out, and having a few more drinks than you should, than a metal show on Saint Patrick’s Day. You know the day that all proud to be an alcoholics call, “Amateur Night”? Too much green beer becomes that lovely shade of black bile that makes the oil monsters from The X-Files look like kittens.

We start the evening off with Memphis’ long running technical death/black metal band Epoch of Unlight. This looks like the time when original guitarist/singer Jason Smith was in the fold. On my command…

Anyone who’s ever been to the Hitone of Poplar Avenue, knows that the heating and cooling was very difficult due to the air conditioning units at that time. The amount of sweat lost in that place could float your mother from here to Bald Knob, Arkansas and back, no problem there.

As the usual digression happens, lets divert this back to the pictures. Process of Suffocation were next, there was a lot of blood and pig heads. Did I mention it was warm in there?

This next band is soft and gentle, like a chainsaw enema. Those boys from the bayou, and bayou adjacent, Goatwhore. No nonsense, no bullshit, straight in your face metal like no one has done to you a while. OOOOOHHHHHHHH!!

And with that, all the snakes were driven out of Memphis….
